Cashmere is a precious fiber that requires delicate care to maintain its softness, shape, and longevity. Follow these instructions to keep your cashmere garments looking their best:
Hand Washing (Recommended):
Use cool water and a gentle detergent specifically designed for wool or cashmere.
Submerge the garment and gently swirl it around. Avoid harsh scrubbing or twisting.
Soak for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water until all soap residue is gone.
Gently press out excess water; do not wring or twist.
Machine Washing (If care label allows):
Turn the garment inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag.
Use a delicate cycle with cool water and a wool/cashmere detergent.
Remove promptly after the cycle ends to prevent creasing.
Drying:
Lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel.
Reshape it to its original dimensions.
Avoid direct sunlight or heat.
Allow to air dry completely.
Storing:
Fold Carefully: Avoid hanging cashmere, as it can stretch and lose its shape.
Clean Before Storing: Moths are attracted to soiled fibers, so ensure your cashmere is clean before storing.
Use Cedar or Lavender: Natural moth repellents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets can help protect your cashmere.
Additional Tips:
Pilling: Gentle pilling is normal with cashmere. Use a cashmere comb or a fabric shaver to remove pills.
Snags: If a snag occurs, gently pull the yarn back through to the inside of the garment.
Stains: Treat stains immediately with a mild stain remover or baby shampoo. Blot gently; do not rub.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or harsh detergents on cashmere.
Rotate Your Wardrobe: Avoid wearing the same cashmere garment too frequently to allow the fibers to recover.
Professional Cleaning:
Dry Cleaning: If you prefer, you can have your cashmere professionally dry cleaned. Choose a reputable cleaner with experience in handling delicate garments.
By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your luxury cashmere garments remain beautiful and soft for years to come.
